Peter Kyle MP and Emily Thornberry MP Visit Blatch
Before the Christmas break we were delighted to welcome Peter Kyle MP and Emily Thornberry, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, to Blatchington Mill to speak to a number of our students.
Our students quizzed the members of parliament on a number of topics including inclusivity, knife crime and climate change. They also had the opportunity to hear Peter Kyle discuss his inspirational career path and his experiences of education, during which he stressed to our students the importance of being persistent and how it is never too late to turn things around.
Speaking of the visit, Peter Kyle said; ‘As a school with an outstanding reputation for inclusiveness I was over-the-moon to show off the work Blatchington Mill does when it comes to making every student feel valued and part of our community.’
Peter is a regular visitor to Blatchington Mill, having visited the school back in July 2018 with Amanda Spielman, her Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector for Ofsted, as well as stopping by in February 2019, when he spoke to our students about climate change. Blatchington Mill is delighted to have the support of our local MP and we are proud to be able to offer our students the opportunity to hold government figures to account. Thanks to Peter and Emily for stopping by!
