Year 10 Barrister Talk
We were really excited to welcome Simon Goldstone to Blatch this week to talk to some of our students about the possibility of following a career in law.
Simon is an experienced barrister, with particular expertise in areas such as commercial, banking, and insurance law. Before coming to the bar he also spent 5 years as a management consultant and also worked as a professional musician, touring with pop group Morcheeba. Simon also obtained a first class degree in French and Russian from Oxford University and has lived in the Former Soviet Union.
Simon’s talk was really interesting and gave our students the opportunity to get involved in discussing court cases, and give their opinion on what the outcomes should be. Simon said he was really impressed with the students in attendance and the way that they argued the fictional law cases.
We’d like to thank Simon for visiting us, and our students for taking part so enthusiastically. A big thank you as well to Mr Alexander and Mrs Hall for organising this as part of our exciting careers programme at Blatch. We hope that Simon’s visit gave our students a good overview of what it means to be a barrister, and that it inspired some of them to consider a career in law.
