Students visit Brighton & Hove Albion FC training ground
Students from Blatchington Mill School visited The Amex training ground on Monday to spend the day playing football. The event was hosted by Albion in the Community. There was a good turn out with an estimated 30 children and adults who spent the day practising their passing, dribbling and shooting skills.
Jack, Dan, Nancy, Laoisha and Jade who were accompanied by Mr Foster, Mr Smith and Ms Devesa-Soler, all had the opportunity to meet local celebrity ‘Gully the Seagull’, the Brighton & Hove Albion mascot. After taking some photos (and carrying out some handstands) with Gully, the students each took turns taking penalties against Gully in goal. Jack scored a fantastic goal and followed it up with some spectacular celebrations whilst others had a go at kicking the footballs in to hoops and taking power kicks with long run ups! What’s more, the students even met Mark, alumni of Blatch who now coaches football.
After a long day, the students were presented with a book about the Brighton & Hove Albion football squad and a Medal which now hangs proudly at home.
A great day was had by all and everyone agreed that they are looking forward to the next event!
