Rockinghorse 50th Birthday
Rockinghorse is a Brighton based charity which has been supporting sick children in Sussex for 50 years. The organisation is proud to be the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children's hospital in Brighton and also works alongside Baby Units and various facilities to fund research.
Blatchington Mill has been involved with the local charity for many years and the cause is one that is close to our hearts. Last week, some members of staff took part in the Rockinghorse Big Birthday Quiz, held at Sussex Cricket Club, helping to raise money for the charity.
Hannah Seltzer, events fundraising co-ordinator for Rockinghorse and a former Blatch student, said:
‘We’ve now counted everything raised and I’m so excited to announce to you that the event raised an amazing…. £7,596.80!!! Thank you so much for your amazing support and for celebrating our 50th birthday with us.’
Hannah visted Blatch with Rockinghorse for Year 11 Enterprise Day where plans were made to get students involved in helping the charity and to discuss with students about working for a charity organisation in the future. Year 11 senior students also helped out at the Rockinghorse Half Marathon this year and spent time cheering on the runners.
In May, Blatchington Mill hopes to hold a non-uniform day entitled ‘Go for Gold’ in recognition of the organisation’s 50th birthday.
The next Rockinghorse Quiz Night is the Halloween Quiz at Brighton Pier on Thursday 26th October – make sure you put the date in your diary!
