P16 Work Experience

Tuesday, 12 July 2016

This year’s Blatchsix work experience was a resounding success with participation from local schools, universities and large and small businesses such as; BT and the Theatre Royal. We were very impressed with the quality of experience being offered from the visits we undertook last week.

Companies and students have completed a reflection and feedback process. Here are a few selected quotes from the evaluations which have been collected so far:

‘Everyone who met Hana this week took an instant shine to her, she has a lovely manner and is extremely bright. I have every confidence that Hana will make a success of whatever career she chooses. I would happily host her for future placements.’
BT Media and Broadcast

Hana on her placement: ‘I attended meetings with ITV and BBC, completed projects and worked on a funding bid. I could see myself working in a large company like BT’

‘Sian has been a pleasure to have in the team and has made a real contribution with her very positive ‘have a go’ attitude. She is a credit to the college’
Brighton University

Sian on her placement: ‘On my placement I worked on a range of projects involving elearning, social media and marketing. I have learnt that I enjoy working with a team of individuals and also on my own. I really enjoyed my work experience’.

‘Courtney was really helpful and showed her initiative throughout the placement. She built up really good relationships with the children – well done on a very successful placement Courtney – we would welcome you back any time!’
St Andrews Primary School.

Courtney on her placement ‘I enjoyed bonding with the students and helping them. I’ve learnt that I would like to work with SEN students and go into this field of work when I am older’

Blatchsix is a fantastic college to study and learn at. We ensure students are well prepared for further study or work at the end of their time with us. If you are interested in studying at Blatchsix, find out more at www.blatchingtonmill.org.uk/our-sixth-form.
